Gordon College at Fort Valley State University (GC@FVSU)

Gordon College offers classes on the campus of Fort Valley State University. The classes are designed to assist students in becoming academically prepared for baccalaureate degree programs. Applicants who have not met the requirements for admission to Fort Valley State may apply for the GC@FVSU program. Upon completion of first-year requirements, students can transfer into FVSU as a sophomore.

How do I apply for admission to GC@FVSU?

Qualified candidates should have a 2.0 academic grade average for college preparatory or a 2.2 academic grade average for technical preparatory. All applicants must pass all five parts of the Georgia High School Graduation Test.

    A Late Application Agreement is required for all students who are applying less than fifteen (15) days prior to the beginning of the term.

  • A Release Agreement is required for all students so information can be transferred between colleges.

  • Submit official final high school transcript showing the date of graduation and type of diploma received. Please contact your high
    school and request official transcripts be sent to the Gordon admissions office at the address above.

  • Complete an Immunization record form (pdf)

  • Submit official SAT, ACT or Compass test scores.
    If you do not have SAT or ACT scores, please schedule
    an appointment at Gordon College to take the
    Compass Placement test. The Compass test is
    an un-timed test. You will be tested in the
    areas of Writing, Reading and Algebra.

    order to be admitted into the
    testing area.

Can I apply for financial aid?

Yes, students should apply for financial assistance through the Gordon College Financial Aid Office. To apply for federal student aid you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Process. The Gordon College FAFSA code is 001575.

What if I have already applied for federal aid at FVSU?

If you completed a FAFSA and referenced FVSU, you do NOT need to complete the FAFSA again. Please call 1-800-433-3243 and request a Student Aid Report (SAR) be forwarded to Gordon College or access your FAFSA online with you pin. Gordon’s FAFSA ID number is: 001575. THIS PROCESS TAKES A MINIMUM OF THREE (3) business days (72 hours) TO COMPLETE.

What is the tuition and mandatory fees for the GC@FVSU program?

Where do I pay fees?

Tuition, student fees, dorm, and meal charges are paid through the Gordon College Business Office. You may pay in person in Room 230, Lambdin Hall. Or, you may pay online through your Gordon College Banner Web account. VISA, MasterCard, and American Express are accepted online. GC@FVSU students must follow the Gordon College payment deadlines and must pay in full before they are allowed to move into the FVSU dorms.

How do I apply for housing?

All students must be fully admitted /accepted to the Gordon College at Fort Valley State University program before being assigned a room to live in FVSU housing. Also, a non-refundable $200 housing application fee is required for all students regardless of financial aid/scholarships before this application will be processed. Checks and money orders will be accepted.

Do I need to visit Gordon's campus?

A visit to Gordon College is encouraged and can accelerate the admissions process, but is not required. During a campus visit you will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with an admissions counselor
  • Review all admissions application materials needed
  • Meet with a financial aid representative (An official copy of the FAFSA should be sent to Gordon 3 business days before visit)
  • Complete Compass testing (if applicable)
  • Receive GC@FVSU College ID
