Addicted to Tetris

By Justin Martinez

Not many people are aware of this, but the ability a person has to bag groceries or to park a car or to load luggage in a vehicle has a direct correlation to the amount of Tetris the person has played throughout their lifetime.

The preceding and proceeding statements may or may not be true, but statistics show that the number of parking related accidents have reduced significantly since the release of the new Tetris DS for the Nintendo DS game system.

Ever since 1989, when Tetris was first released, this game has been one of the most popular and most addicting video games of all time. But, this is not your "Game Boy's "Tetris. With the technological advances of the Nintendo DS, this game takes the art of playing Tetris to many new levels.

Tetris DS offers six different modes of play, including one that utilizes the touch screen that the DS offers.

With this game, you can take full advantage of the free online play via WiFi and the system-to-system multiplayer mode via Bluetooth.
The most consumer-friendly feature of Tetris DS is the fact that up to ten players, with the DS game system, can play against each other at one time using only one Tetris DS game cartridge.

The list of reasons to love this game can go on. This reviewer bought the DS game system strictly for this game. There are, though, a few downsides one should consider.

On occasion, the online connection is congested and slow. After waiting for several minutes to connect, just to be disconnected in the middle of a game can become very frustrating.

Also, for those who don't own the big, gray, bricklike Nintendo DS handheld system already, I recommend waiting for the more aesthetically pleasing, DS Lite which will be coming out soon.

Tetris DS is out now and costs around $30.

Review: Failure to Launch

By Emily Doberstein

The question was what should we see? It was my birthday and my friends and I wanted to watch something fun. Hence, the reason we decided to see Failure to Launch. How much more fun could it get? I mean, Matthew McConaughey shirtless? Come on, ladies, you know what I'm talking about!

So we went and sat for an hour and a half, drooling over Mr. McConaughey, or Tripp, as he was referred to in the movie. It was very fun and humorous, with Sarah Jessica Parker playing Paula, Tripp's object of affection. Also starring were Zooey Deschanel (Kit), Justin Bartha (Ace), Terry Bradshaw (Al), and Kathy Bates (Sue) just to name a few.

The plot is about a thirty something man who still lives at home with Mama and Daddy. That, of course, would be Matthew McConaughey. Now Mama (Kathy Bates) and Daddy (Terry Bradshaw) are tired of their not-so-little boy living under the same roof. So what do they do? Why, they hire Paula (Parker) to come in and sweep Tripp off his feet. Then, as soon as he falls for Paula, he will move out. This is when the fun really starts! Tripp's friends, played by Justin Bartha and Bradley Cooper, add their own senses of humor to the movie, and Zooey Deschanel is also quite the character.

Now I won't spoil the ending. You'll have to see it for yourself! Trust me when I say this is the perfect chick flick for a group of gals and I would have to say a great date movie too… particularly a first date! So go see it! I promise you won't be disappointed with this all star cast and hilarious story!
