Big Meet Greets Highlanders

More than twenty teams greeted the Highlander Cross Country squad on Saturday as they traveled to Rome to compete in the Berry College Invitational. Four states and three different divisions (NCAA D-II, NAIA, NJCAA) were represented at the meet.
The Gordon College women’s team was led by freshman Chelsey Patterson with a time of 23:50.01 while sophomores Marlene Escobar and Amber Hoffman crossed the finish line just six seconds apart in the 5K. Freshmen Robert Bradham and Brandon Lewis were the top two finishers for the men’s team. Bradham finished at 30:27.70 while Lewis posted a 31:40.73 time on a difficult 8K course. The cross country team will continue their weekend pattern as they are in Dawson, Georgia, on Saturday (Sept. 19). The 9 a.m. meet is hosted by Darton College.
