After a final home regular season loss against South Georgia Technical College, the Gordon College men’s basketball team must now prepare for the first round of the Region 17 post-season tournament and a familiar opponent – SGTC. The Jets are the number one seed and the favorite to win the region crown.
“We finished eighth in the region and we’ll be playing the top ranked team that is also ranked 21st in the nation,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Israel Ingle. “We are going to have to work really hard, but I have faith in our team and their abilities. We will play our hearts out.” The tournament begins on Thursday (March 5) with four games while the winners advance to the semifinals on Friday. The championship is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. The Highlanders will play the final game on Thursday against SGTC at 8 p.m. in Americus. Gordon College will try to improve on a 13 – 17 record.
