Transient Students attending Gordon College A transient student attending Gordon College is defined as a student that has received permission from the institution where the student is currently enrolled in order to take classes at Gordon College on a temporary basis. The only type of financial aid that is available to transient students attending Gordon College is the HOPE scholarship. If you are interested in attending Gordon as a transient student and are eligible for the HOPE scholarship at your current institution, you may be eligible to receive payment for your classes at Gordon through the HOPE scholarship program. In order to determine your eligibility for payment, you must have the Financial Aid Office at your current institution submit a HOPE Scholarship Eligibility Certificate for Transient Study to the Gordon College Financial Aid Office. This document will inform the Gordon College Financial Aid Office of your HOPE scholarship eligibility status. The Gordon College Financial Aid Office will not award your HOPE Scholarship funds until this document is received and your eligibility is verified. As a general rule, Gordon College does not enter into consortium agreements with other post secondary institutions. This means that we do not accept federal financial aid from other institutions for students wishing to study as transient at Gordon College. If a prospective student is not eligible for the HOPE scholarship then he or she will have to pay for any transient classes with his or her own funds. Please Note: Gordon College does not award the HOPE grant. Gordon College Students Attending Another Institution as a Transient Student As a general rule, Gordon College does not enter into consortium agreements with other post secondary institutions. This means that we do not accept federal financial aid from other institutions for students wishing to study as transient at Gordon College. If a prospective student is not eligible for the HOPE scholarship then he or she will have to pay for any transient classes with his or her own funds. If you are eligible for the HOPE scholarship at Gordon College and wish to be reviewed for payment as a transient student, you must complete the following steps: Complete the Transient Student Form. Receive permission to study as a transient student at another institution from the Gordon College Registrar. Please Note: In many cases, the request for HOPE transient permission cannot be completed prior to the beginning of the new quarter of semester at the host institution. Because of this, most transient students need to be prepared to pay all of their expenses at the host institution in order to prevent their classes from being dropped. They will also need to check with the host institution concerning the institution’s refund policy in regard to HOPE reimbursement.
